from: Plasma TVs: Things To Think About Before Buying

When considering purchasing a brand new plasma television, there are a few things to consider before just walking in to the local electronics store and handing them your money.

With a little knowledge, you can make a good buying decision and not on the first impulse sale made by the sales agent to attract you into buying.

Make sure you look at a plasma television that can support the digital signal that is being broadcast by most cable companies. Also not all Plasma TV available are definition ready so take a look at its image quality if it is ED or HD, Extended definition and high definition respectively.

Due to higher manufacturing costs, High Definition plasma televisions have higher price tags than similar-featured Extended Definition sets. Despite the higher cost, HD plasma displays may or may not offer better viewing quality than ED plasma displays. Typically, High Definition sets will look better with HD resolution signals.

When selecting the size of a set, the primary consideration is the viewing distance, or the distance from the viewers’ eyes to the front of the display. Optimal viewing distance is a matter of personal taste.

Plasma televisions come in sizes from thirty-two inches to sixty-three inches. Don’t buy one that’s too big for your living room. Also consider additional accessories like speakers since most do not have a built-in speakers with them when you purchase it.

Decide what kind of mounting you will have to do with your TV. Plasma TVs are usually mounting flexible and can be done standard on the wall, ceiling and table stand. Since Plasma TVs are usually mounted on the walls, make sure that you use a standard mounting kit or you may run the risk of breaking your newly purchased Plasma TV. It would be better if you hire a professional service provider to be sure of the quality of work.

Since the mounting methods are varied, each installation must be customized to fit the architecture and design of each room and of each consumer’s taste. This custom installation requirement is of key importance when choosing a suitable installer.

Also, make sure you buy a reliable brand name. By sticking with someone like Pioneer or Panasonic, you can be reassured that you are going to get a reliable product and solid warranty.

These brands have well established brand equity and their brand name serves as na outright guarantee.
